Meet the Artist ~ Karen Gardiner Armstrong
I love that the first verse in the Bible says "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." Genesis 1:1 . I have always loved to be creative but I didn't realize for a long time that God had a purpose and plan for me with that. In Jeremiah 1:5a it says, "Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee;..." , He knew what He was going to create me to do before I was even created. How amazing is that?! I am reminded of this again in Ephesians 2:10, "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."
I am a self taught artist and love to work with acrylic and oil paints along with using graphite pencils. Occasionally, I will also work with colored pencils and pastels. It is through my Creator that I am able to do what I do. I like to think that He is my Teacher, He is the One who guides my paint brush and drawing pencil. I love telling stories, especially God's stories, through art. My heart's desire is to encourage others through the good times and even the difficult times. It is through the difficult times, I receive His strength all the more, knowing that His grace is sufficient for me. I have learned in my walk of life, that if I can't see God's hands in my life's journey, I know that I can always trust His heart!
It is through my LORD that I have had the privilege to be in several art shows, displaying the works He has allowed me to do through Him. I was an art teacher in a Christian school for seventeen years and taught from Kindergarten all the way up to high school. He also has given me the privilege to teach through paint classes and private lessons. I do not boast on me but on what the LORD has done through me. It is He who receives the honor and glory. I am blessed to be married to my best friend since 1978. We have three adult daughters and are grandparents. We live in northeast Georgia and love serving in our local church.

Art Shows in Merrimack, NH
With music playing in the background; I love sitting in my studio creating each piece the LORD lays on my heart to do. As I commit each piece and person to the LORD in prayer and invite Him into our creative process as I listen to His still small voice, I think of it as my audience of One time with my Creator, Redeemer and LORD. It is such a precious time with Him. It is one of my most favorite rooms to be in. I hope as you look at each piece, whether it is through the Gallery looking to be encouraged or through the shop to buy something, that it will speak to your heart in a very special way as if the LORD is speaking to you, Himself. For it is He, who does the creating through me and it is to Him, I give the glory!
