"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matthew 5:16 I always am in awe every time the LORD lays on my heart what He wants me to paint or draw. I don't know why I am but I guess I am also humbled that He would want to use me to tell His story in very unique ways by using art.
A little while ago, I was walking down my driveway to get my mail and "happened" to look across the street. My church is across the street from me with the pastor's house between our place and the church. As I looked up at the steeple and saw that cross, through the trees, the LORD gave me such a vivid picture of what He wanted me to paint and why. The sunlight was hitting that cross at just the right angle that it reminded me of a lighthouse. My mom liked lighthouses and I enjoy looking at different photos of them. Just as they are to give light to the ships out in the sea, it reminded me that we as children of God are to be the same type of light to those lost in the darkness of this world. The LORD reminded me as I looked at that steeple with the cross on top, that our church, also, is to be that light for our LORD to our community. There is so much darkness around and it can be scary, BUT the darkness cannot stay when there is light shining in that same place. Before I started to paint this, I covered the canvas with Scripture referencing to His LIGHT and that we are to be that LIGHT also. As I painted, I would come before the LORD seeking His guidance but also to pray for my church, that we would be that beacon of light and for my community who needs that LIGHT! The last place you would think to find a church is in the wilderness, but we are in the "wilderness" as sin roams all about us. That light coming from that steeple is a reminder to ALL of us, that we are to point people to the true LIGHT and that LIGHT is the LORD Jesus Christ. Just as the light of a lighthouse points out the danger to ships in sea like unseen rocks or maybe other ships, let our church and most importantly ourselves be the LIGHT to those in a lost and dying world. Let's be "A Beacon of LIGHT in the Wilderness"!

"Let your conversation be without coveteousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never thee, nor forsake thee." Hebrews 13:5 I have found that doing art whether through drawing or painting is very therapeutic for me. I have been working on this drawing off and on since my Dad’s memorial service. At the beginning of the drawing, I realized I wasn’t ready to work on it yet. After my Dad went Home to be with his Savior, I was heartbroken. One night as I was crying and talking with the LORD about it, I told Him how I wish I could have been with Dad when he passed. He was all alone and in extreme pain. At that moment, the LORD reminded me that Dad was not alone, that He was with Him and that’s where this drawing came from. He reminded me that He was sitting beside Dad as he was in extreme pain, holding his hand as He was getting ready to escort Dad to his real Home. I drew Dad’s hand with his wrinkles and all because that was his true hand along with his missing finger. When I look at this drawing I’m reminded that Dad no longer has wrinkles AND he NOW has ALL his fingers!!! As I was drawing Dad’s hand yesterday, I felt as if I was holding his hand at that moment. I’m so thankful for my Savior who sees our pain, physical and emotional and He meets us in that pain. He died for us taking our punishment for our sins as you can see by the scar I drew in His hand. If you look very closely to Jesus’ pointer finger, you will see a very unique fingerprint. Our fingerprints identify us and His fingerprint identifies Him as our Savior! When we feel like we’re all alone, remember if you are a child of God, “You’re Not Alone”. I just wanted to share my heart. Have a great day in the LORD on purpose!

Karen's Artistic Thoughts
I decided as I was working on this website, that a blog would be a way to explain what goes through my mind as I work on each piece the Lord has laid on my heart. Archives
