"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matthew 5:16 I always am in awe every time the LORD lays on my heart what He wants me to paint or draw. I don't know why I am but I guess I am also humbled that He would want to use me to tell His story in very unique ways by using art.
A little while ago, I was walking down my driveway to get my mail and "happened" to look across the street. My church is across the street from me with the pastor's house between our place and the church. As I looked up at the steeple and saw that cross, through the trees, the LORD gave me such a vivid picture of what He wanted me to paint and why. The sunlight was hitting that cross at just the right angle that it reminded me of a lighthouse. My mom liked lighthouses and I enjoy looking at different photos of them. Just as they are to give light to the ships out in the sea, it reminded me that we as children of God are to be the same type of light to those lost in the darkness of this world. The LORD reminded me as I looked at that steeple with the cross on top, that our church, also, is to be that light for our LORD to our community. There is so much darkness around and it can be scary, BUT the darkness cannot stay when there is light shining in that same place. Before I started to paint this, I covered the canvas with Scripture referencing to His LIGHT and that we are to be that LIGHT also. As I painted, I would come before the LORD seeking His guidance but also to pray for my church, that we would be that beacon of light and for my community who needs that LIGHT! The last place you would think to find a church is in the wilderness, but we are in the "wilderness" as sin roams all about us. That light coming from that steeple is a reminder to ALL of us, that we are to point people to the true LIGHT and that LIGHT is the LORD Jesus Christ. Just as the light of a lighthouse points out the danger to ships in sea like unseen rocks or maybe other ships, let our church and most importantly ourselves be the LIGHT to those in a lost and dying world. Let's be "A Beacon of LIGHT in the Wilderness"!

Karen's Artistic Thoughts
I decided as I was working on this website, that a blog would be a way to explain what goes through my mind as I work on each piece the Lord has laid on my heart. Archives
